Protect & recover

Updates & maintenance

Routine patches, major versions, and the downtime to expect.

Routine maintenance uses a window

Compatible database patch releases and operating-system updates are applied in a scheduled window after backup health checks. A restart or reboot can interrupt connections on a single-instance plan. Applications should retry and reconnect safely.

Major upgrades need your approval

Major database versions can change application behavior. They should be tested on a separate instance first, with compatibility checks and a planned final migration. We do not silently upgrade an application's database to a new major version.

Know what rollback means

An older server can be retained during a migration, but after new writes occur on the upgraded database, switching back needs a data-reconciliation plan. Installing an older package is not a reliable recovery method.
